Invisalign FAQ
Q: How long is my treatment?
A: Each individual is unique, however, the cases that we accept in our office typically take 3-12 months. If your treatment is more complex, we will refer you to an orthodontist

Q: How is Invisalign different than other clear aligner therapies?
A: Invisalign is a dentist monitored procedure and is the leading provider of clear aligners worldwide. Their patented technology allows for the most predictable and controlled movements for your individual needs. In comparison to some at-home treatments, you need to be cleared by a dentist in our office to ensure that there are no other issues such as gum disease or tooth decay before we start the treatment.

Q: Why should I take Tylenol and not NSAIDs (ibuprofen/Motrin)?
A: The movement of teeth relies on an inflammatory response, thus taking anti-inflammatory medication may slow down the progression. We understand that NSAIDs are necessary for other body aches and pains, so it is not prohibited to take during treatment, just a preference if you have the option.

Q: What should I do if I lose or break a tray?
A: Our general rule is to go back to the previous tray and call our office to request a replacement. Depending on how long you were wearing the trays, we may allow you to move forward to the next tray. You should not move to the tray ahead unless specifically instructed by our office. If requiring a replacement tray becomes a frequent occurrence, there may be a fee associated with the new set of trays.

Q: How can I clean the trays?
A: At a minimum always rinse your Invisalign trays with water when taking them out to rinse off any residual oral bacteria present. You may brush your aligners with a tooth brush without toothpaste. For an even deeper clean, use the Invisalign cleaning crystals provided in your starter kit or you can purchase them online.

Q: How often do I need to come back to the office?
A: We typically send you home with a few trays at a time and see you every 4-8 weeks. However, there are some instances we can monitor your care virtually to limit the amount of visits.
